Hello lovelies.

For your perusal: the first week when I had lots of pictures.

The second week when you had lots of ideas.

The third week when I was out of steam and you guys saved the bacon // dinner.

The fourth week which doubled as THANKSGIVING PREP!

And now: volume 6:

week eats saturday

How was your Thanksgiving? Did you eat to your heart’s contentment? For me that would have involved much more pie and as it was, I was definitely overeating the pies.

Your recipe failures and successes? Do tell!


And this week coming up, now that we’ve had a week to nurse our leftovers and wounds, if any were inflicted. My son has two razor teeth. I can assure you I’m nursing some wounded fingers and other body parts.

Moving along to happier fields.

Monday: MEAT

How about an Alice Waters number because I love her so? She was my gateway to real food. Grilled Chicken with Garlic Puree and shaved zucchini salad.

You’re thinking, Nell it’s not summer! But I’m thinking: we have an indoor grill on our amazing stove. And I have zucchini. And already made the bread that tastes so moist with it.


Tuesday: SOUP

Smitten Kitchen. Am I on repeat here? Let’s do her carrot soup. My friend made it for us the other week and it was Ah-Mazing. Plus I have chick peas I need to use up.

Carrot Soup with tahini & crisped chickpeas. 


 Wednesday: BREAKFAST

My son was allergic to eggs for three years. He still won’t eat them even though he’s not allergic anymore. I try to trick him with quiche. Sometimes it works. Yum. Quiche!!

Let’s go jailbird. Let’s go Martha. Bacon & Cheese Quiche. We always have lots of cheese.



I made three roasts the other week and froze one. We’ll see how it turns out defrosted. And reheated. But side dishes. Side dishes. Shoot. Stumped. I’m sick of potatoes. Maybe the roasted green beans I made for thanksgiving? We have tons in the freezer from the garden and this recipe was great!


Friday: PIZZA

Farmgirl fare’s crust + what on top??? The Food Network has 50 ideas. I don’t know.

    I thought you’d never ask!
    Friday – leftover potato soup and a hunk of bread
    Saturday – dinner party! I’m making homemade guacamole, proscuitto wrapped goat/marscapone cheese stuffed dates, nuts; dinner is Ina Garten roast salmon and herbs, Ree Drummond chicken piccata, mash potato/celery root, grean beans sauteed; dessert is honey pound cake with blueberry sauce and lemon whip cream
    Monday – sticky pomegranate chicken pieces, lime rice, cucumber salad
    Tuesday – flank steak thai salad (peanut dressing)
    Wedensday – chili made with ground turkey
    Thursday – Little Caesar’s night

    I haven’t planned a lot yet. Tonight is slow-cooker beef and chickpea tagine (apricots, olives, preserved lemons, etc.).

    Sunday: some sort of beef stew
    Monday: chicken soup with homemade bread
    Tuesday: red wine lentils and salad… probably with bread or socca
    Wednesday: grilled cheese and tomato soup
    Thursday: breakfast (home-cured bacon, crepes with cinnamon apples)
    Friday: vegetarian split pea or chickpea soup with cornbread muffins
